Riding for Sam / Sydney2CAMberra
Story
Hi there,
In April 2016 we took part in a bike ride from Sydney to Canberra to raise funds and awareness for SIDS and Kids. Pete rode and Georgie as an event volunteer.
As you may or may not know, in June of 2012 or little boy Sam (Sam, Sammy, Sausage, Sammy Sausage, Salmon, Poppet, Pocket Rocket) died of SIDS or SUDI (sudden and unexpected death in infancy) just before his 2nd birthday. The organization SIDS and Kids have been a great support to us since this tragedy and we are hoping to generate some support for them to continue the work they do for bereaved families and to research and education.
The ride event is now in its soon to be 6th year and was created by a Sydney couple who lost their son Cameron through stillbirth. Hence the event name Sydney 2 CAMberra. Like this family, the event is an opportunity for us to remember and celebrate the life of our boy whilst raising funds and awareness to a cause that means a great deal to us.
We are hoping to raise as much money as possible through the event and this is the part where you come in.....
So feel free to follow the links on this page if you'd like to support SIDS and Kids. (donations over $2 are tax deductible). They are the crew behind Red Nose Day that we all know and love, but we are now taking it a step further and decided to have some hurt/fun in the process.
Thank you!
Pete and Georgie Keach.
Activity
Red Nose (SIDS and Kids)
Red Nose is a national charity working to save little lives through research and education, and supporting heartbrokwn families whose baby or young child has died.
Every year, over 3,000 families are devastated by the sudden and unexpected death of their baby or child. What’s more, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. This has to stop.
Through world-class research, education and support we passionately believe we can put an end to this.
Join us and together we can stop little lives being cut short and ensure every grieving family gets the support they need.
Your generous donations and support will fund fund new resarch, support families, and save little lives. Learn more at rednose.org.au
